LCC Judicial Review - update
Posted by Mark Buckley on Tue 06/09/11. Listed in Disability Equality NW news
We finally have a decision in the Judicial Review hearing.
Unfortunately the Judge has found in favour of Lancashire County Council. We have yet to receive the written judgement but "unprecedented economic circumstances" were a significant factor in his ruling.
Whilst this news is disappointing we need to remember that although the judge found that LCC had not acted illegally, this doesn't mean that what they did - and the way they did it - was right. We will continue to challenge any injustices through the courts and other local methods.
We are disappointed by the decision but stand firm that this was the right thing to do, and we are also very proud of all our staff, trustees, members and volunteers who worked hard on this challenge.
Now we have learnt what rights we have, and how to use them - we must continue to do so every time we, or those close to us, suffer discrimination and injustice.
