Judicial Review - update
Posted by Mark Buckley on Wed 10/08/11. Listed in Disability Equality NW news
The judicial review sought by two women in Lancashire has now been heard. The Judge will now produce a written judgement. We expect this in early September. In the meantime, Lancashire County Council must wait before implementing the proposed changes to adult social care.
The main issues the Judge will consider are whether it was lawful for LCC to:
- significantly reduce its Adults and Communities budget
- move its threshold for eligibility for adult community care services from ‘moderate’ to ‘substantial’ and
- increase the charges which eligible service users must pay.
DENW will be organising a briefing meeting to discuss the outcome.
