It requires local government and partnership agencies to work in collaboration to make a commitment to health and sustainable development, through political leadership and formal structures.
Preston was designated a Healthy City of Phase V in 2009. The city’s vision is ‘To Make Preston The Third City Of The North West by 2012’ and thus making a commitment to focus on reducing inequalities arising from gender, age, disability, ethnicity, faith, sexuality and location within Preston and increasing accessibility to services and thereby maintain cohesive communities. The reduction of inequalities is reflected throughout the themes in the Preston Community Strategy.
