New Independent Living Advice Service launched

We are excited to announce the start of our new Direct Payment information and advice service which is part of Lancashire Independent Living Service (LILS).

Lancashire Independent Living Service (LILS) is run by a consortium made up of Cheshire Centre for Independent Living (CCIL) and Disability Equality North West (DENW) providing advice to people who are eligible for Direct Payments through Lancashire County Council.

DENW will be coordinating the independent living advice with CCIL providing payroll services. What

Taking a Direct Payment to manage your own care and support gives you more choice and control. Whether it be to employ your own Personal Assistant or engage the services of a care provider.   LILS will be able to help you to set up and manage your Direct Payment successfully.

If you are interested in finding out more about Direct Payments and the service LILS offers then call a member of our team on 01772 558 863 (option 1- Lancashire Independent Living Service).

John Coxhead

It is with deep regret that we have to inform you that John Coxhead, former Chair and Volunteer of Disability Equality, died Tuesday 10th May.

John played such a huge role in our development in the early days, and was such a great activist for the rights and access of disabled people.

He loved life, and life loved him - he did everything on offer - with great enthusiasm and humour!

Please contact Melanie Close for further details regarding funeral arrangements. melanie@disability-equality.org.uk
